Greater New York Mensa Regional Gathering
To Be Held At The Tarrytown Hilton
Eve Hinderer

Tarrytown, NY -- The local chapter of American Mensa, Ltd., the high IQ Society, will be holding its annual Regional Gathering at the Tarrytown Hilton, the weekend of Friday, April 23, 1999 through Sunday April 25, 1999. As well as being open to all Mensans worldwide, the event will be open to the public on Saturday the 24th (ONLY), with a one day registration fee of $30.00.

Featured speakers include Mensans Cleo Odzer, author of "Virtual Spaces: Sex and the Cyber Citizen;" and Lou Marinoff, author of "Fair New World," which was described by one reviewer as "Swiftian in the savagery of its humour…" Mensan Frank Purcell will also be speaking on "Controlling the Uncontrollable: Saints and Sinners in Cyberspace."

Any interested citizens who attend may well be surprised at Mensans' proclivity for socializing! The Hospitality Suite will be in full gear the entire weekend, providing space to mingle and making sure no one goes hungry. There will be a special room dedicated solely to games, hosted by Martin Goldberger. The Saturday night banquet will double as the occasion for a murder mystery, put on by "The Killing Kompany." Country/Western dancing is featured after dinner, with a demonstration by the "RoundUp Dancers." Sightseeing, morning aerobics, chocolate and wine tasting and a pool party are some of the other events available to Regional Gathering participants.

Any non-member interested in attending on the 24th may send the $30.00 day registration fee to: Martin Goldberger; 77-31 166 Street; Flushing, NY 11366. There was also an on-line registration form on the Mensa Regional Gathering 1999 page of this website (which was removed after the RG). The fee for the Saturday night banquet with murder mystery is an additional $55.00.
